"Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit...in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life.... Catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community" (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1309).
Confirmation candidates must complete two years of formal Catholic Faith Formation, with the child receiving the Sacrament towards the end of their second year.
Year 1 (typically 8th Grade) preparation is done within the context of weekly participation in our Wednesday night youth ministry.
Year 2 (typically 9th Grade) candidates also attend our Wednesday night youth ministry, as well as a retreat, and complete the additional requirements outlined below.
Both years utilize the beautiful Chosen Curriculum from Ascension Press. And attendance is required with 3 excused absences only for both Year 1 and Year 2.
