Katolicka Jednota Zen Texaskych - Catholic Women's Union of Texas - Founded in 1894, two of the original founders, Mrs. Anna Jakubik and Mrs. Marie Yurek met after attending Mass in April 1894 with Reverend Father Francis Just to inform him of their interest in forming a mutual aid society for the Czech Catholic Women of the Parish. Through his encouragement and the assistance of Reverend Father M. Vaculik, the first Society of Czech Catholic Women in Texas was organized in September 1894 at St. Joseph’s Parish in Yoakum, Texas. This society was placed under the protection and patronage of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

People Helping People
Our People Helping People program helps communities and parishes with donations of both monetary and goods. Each year Societies of KJZT Family Life focus on participating in parish and community work projects and fundraisers throughout the State.
During 2019, the Fraternal’s members volunteered over 53,000 hours, and raised and donated $314,000 to Texas communities and parishes. Attend a Society meeting to learn what’s going on in your area. If you have a favorite local charity you support, you can suggest their program as a recipient of a donation.
The local Societies’ efforts are monetarily matched up to 50% by the State Office. If a qualifying disaster relief project is held, 100% matching funds are available from the State Office.
